Week 9 Review (U6)

U6

The final week of the u6 season started with the four teams, who didn’t make the play offs, playing their final games. The Cougars and Arrows opened up with a 1-1 draw, the Cougars led 1-0 at half time but Thomas Kline’s late goal meant the game ended even. The Cougars then played Dix Hills and were beaten 5-0 with Ben Osiashvili scoring four and Skylar Ellis one.

The Red Lions finished the season with two wins beating the Arrows and Dix Hills. The Lion’s top scorer Luca Mazzilli scored both goals in the 2-0 victory over the Arrows and was also on target against Dix Hills. Ryan Kaiser and Lennon Harrington also score against Dix Hills to make it 3-0 in their favor at half time. Dix Hills got back in it in the second thanks to two more goals by Ben Osiashvili but the Lions held on for the 3-2 win.

Syosset Madrid v HBC Hurricanes

The first play off game saw Syosset Madrid hoping to continue their winning streak against the Hurricanes. The first half was tight with Jake Hatton scoring for HBC and Blake Donahue & Griffin Pinter for Syosset  who led  2-1 at the break. Syosset dominated the play in the second half and further goals by Jack Pendrick, Tristan Segal and two by Nikko Tenedero made the final score 6-1.

Kings Pk. Xtreme v HBC Holland

Both teams played a confident and close first half with the only goal coming from Holland’s Delilah Sember. Holland stepped it up in the second half with Delilah adding her second and Brendan Galla scoring twice. Alex Squillacioti was on target for the Xtreme but they couldn’t stop Holland taking their place in the final, 4-1 the final score in this one.

3rd place play off

HBC Hurricanes v Kings Pk. Xtreme

This was the closet game of the play offs with both teams looking to take the third place medals. It was end to end in the first half and looked like ending 0-0 until the Xtreme’s top score Alex Squillacioti scored seconds before the half time whistle to give Kings Park the advantage. The second half was similar with both teams attacking but unable to find the net and the Xtreme’s first half goal proved to be enough as they held on to win 1-0.

Final

HBC Holland v Syosset Madrid

Syosset Madrid came out strong in the final and goals by Jack Pendrick, Mason Laliotis and Dylan Geissler gave them a comfortable 3-0 lead at half time. Holland battled away in the second half and pulled a goal back when Delilah Sember scored but two goals by Nikko Tenedero, one a penalty kick, made the final score 5-1 to Syosset who finished in first place with a perfect record of sixteen wins.

Congratulations to all teams for making it such an enjoyable U6 season, to Syosset Madrid for their first place finish and to Nikko Tenedero who scored 33 goals making him the U6 Golden Boot winner. Congrats also to Alex Squillacioti, Delilah Sember and Jake Hatton who scored, 29, 28 and 24 goals respectively. Great job everyone!
