Week 6 Review

WEEK 6 REVIEW

U6

The HBC Hurricanes won a close encounter with the Red Lions to open week 5 in the U6 division. Jake Hatton’s second half goal was enough to give the Hurricanes the points in the 1-0 win.

The Lions recovered well to beat the Cougars 6-2 in their next game. Brandon Varlock hit a hat trick, Luca Mazzilli had two and Lennon Harrington one for the Lions with Jordi Castillo and Riley LaRagina replying for the Cougars.

Alex Sqillacioti scored a first half hat trick to give Kings Pk Xtreme a 3-1 lead at the break against the Hurricanes. Jake Hatton pulled one back to add to Julia Rombaldi’s goal but they couldn’t tie it up and the Xtreme held on for the 3-2 victory. The Xtreme were then on the wrong end of a 6-2 score line against the Arrows. Ryan Scanlon netted a hat trick, Thomas Kline had two and Alex Ruddy one in a confident display. Jay Paul Verne and Chris Davis were on target for Kings Park.

Syosset Madrid continued their excellent start with wins over the Cougars and Dix Hills. Nikko Tenedero and Blake Donahue each scored twice in the 7-2 win over the Cougars. Ashley Gleit scored for Dix Hills but they lost 3-1, Blake Donahue, Nikko Tenedero and Jack Pendrick hitting the target for Madrid in that game.

HBC Holland also won twice recording a pair of 3-0 wins over the Arrows and Dix Hills. Delilah Sember, Austin Scherner and Logan Zipper scored against the Arrows before Delilah added another two to her total for the season against Dix Hills, Logan Zipper with the third.

Boys U7

The top two in the division went head to head in the days first game and it was HBC Milan who struck first against the Blue Dragons when Luke Copland’s shot found the corner in the opening seconds. It was end to end after that but neither team could manage another goal in the first half. Justin Gennat added a second for Milan after the break and it ended 2-0 to Milan. Milan were then up against SFA Lightning and it turned out to be another close game. Both teams had chances but were unable to break the deadlock and it ended 0-0. Ryan Schiff recording his second clean sheet of the day in the Milan goal.

The Blue Dragons took the lead in their game with the South Huntington Thunder when Jordan Garbut found the net. Ashley Kozlowski tied it up for the Thunder but Dean Muratore restored the lead for the Dragons before half time. Both teams created opportunities after the break but couldn’t take them and it finished 2-1 to the Dragons.

The Red Eagles had a good day with wins over SFA Lightning and the HY Cavaliers. Bryce Lanton scored both goals in the 2-0 triumph over SFA and was on target again with another two in the 6-0 win over the Cavaliers.  South Huntington Thunder also beat the Cavaliers, Ashley Kozlowski scored twice and Dillon Hartman once, 3-0 the final score.

Boys U8

Brandon Bastien’s first half goal was enough for Farmingdale Madrid as they beat HBC City in a close game, 1-0. Madrid also beat NY Strikers 4-0 to remain clear at the top of the table, Tyler Solis and Jack Scanlon each scored twice.

Arsenal and HBC City played an even first half that looked like being scoreless until a shot by Liam Harrington from the edge of his own penalty area somehow found its way through everyone and into City’s net. Geral Cortez added another in the second half, 2-0 the final to Arsenal.

Enzo Pupillo and Ian Husselbeck scored late goals for the Annoying Oranges to give them a 2-0 victory over NY Strikers. They went down by the same score shortly after as Arsenal scored one in each half, Sean Kozoday and Gavin Wisotsky on target to keep them in second place.

Boys U10/11

There plenty of goals in the BU10/11 division this week. Kings Park Explosion got the ball rolling with a 4-0 win over the Rowdy Wasabis, Matt Cotoir netting twice. They followed that win with a convincing 7-1 victory over FC Favoritos, John Black, Mark Tolkin and Dylan Squillacioti scoring two each.

Owen Husselbeck was another player to score twice but he was on the losing team as the Raiders saw off the Rowdy Wasabis 7-3. Brian Contreras and Franklin Fuentes with two each for the Raiders. The Raiders scored another five in their next game against the South Huntington Sharpshooters. Jonathan Solar gave the Sharpshooters an early lead but Giuseppe Noto and Emmy Forbes hit back with two each and Brian Contreras one, 5-1 the final score.

The CSH Rapids were on fire in the first half of their game with the Favoritos, Ethan Evans scored a hat trick in their 5-0 win, all goals coming before the break.  Matt Calandra looked like he had given the Sharpshooters a 1-0 win over the Rapids but a last gasp goal by Ethan Evans made it 1-1 in the divisions final game of the day.

Girls U12

CSH Storm stayed top of the table with two 4-0 victories this week. Same Reim was on target twice in their game against FC Favoritas and Emily Berlinghof twice against Syosset Jazz.

The Favoritas were one 1-0 down in the first fifteen seconds of their game against the SH Unicorns when Bianca Skelton scored. That proved decisive as neither team could find the net after that, 1-0 to the Unicorns the final score.

Northport Surf got back to winning ways beating the Unicorns 4-1, Hope Staib with two of the goals. They then tied for the seventh time this season against the South Huntington Stars. Alyssa Sorensen looked to have won it for the Stars with a late goal but an unfortunate own goal within thirty seconds evened it up for the Surf and it ended 1-1.

Jessica Boyle and Jenny Duclay gave the Stars a 2-0 lead at the break against Syosset Jazz. Skylar Keating pulled one back for the Jazz late on but it wasn’t enough and the Stars held on for the 2-1 victory.

Boys U14

Jericho Revolution again won twice to stay clear at the top of the division. Todd Pearlman and Peter Deplas gave them a 2-0 half time lead over the CSH Comets but Alex Tacopina made it 2-1 with a long range strike. Jericho soon restored their two goal lead when Blake Shaevitz scored and it ended 3-1. Branden Chavez scored a hat trick for South Huntington PSG against the Revolution but it wasn’t enough as they conceded seven! Evan Papidus top scored with two for Jericho who had six different goal scorers in the game, 7-4 the final score.

The CSH Comets overcame South Huntington Barca 2-0 with both goals coming in the first half, Brendan Wirth and Matt Shooshstary on target to keep them in second place.

Barca looked to be cruising at half time in their game against the Vortex as they led 4-1 but a blistering second half saw the Vortex score five times to win it 6-4 ! Barca’s top scorer and Golden Boot leader Gabe Quesquen added another two to his total while Ben Barnes went one better for the Vortex scoring a hat trick.

The Vortex and South Huntington PSG then played an even more exciting game, this time it was the Vortex who led at half time by a score of 3-1. With only three minutes left on the clock the Vortex still led by two goals, another Ben Barnes hat trick and two from Ryan Glazier making it 5-3. David Cartagena pulled one back before Juan Chicoma stole the show with two goals in the last ninety seconds to win it 6-5 for PSG.

Boys U17

Bay Shore Falcons took an early lead against the CSH Renegades through Mike Bernardo’s strike in another competitive U17 game. The Falcons couldn’t add to their lead and the Renegades got back into the game when Nick Tonks’ shot was deflected in. Anfernee Lopez and Raul Alvaranga also got on the score sheet for the Renegades who went on to win 3-1.

HBC 95’s played their best soccer of the season and a fine individual goal by Jerry Tobar gave them a 1-0 half time lead over the Renegades. The second half saw Sam Umana power in a second and Jerry Tobar score from distance to make the final score 3-0.

Braulio Sandoval scored twice in the first half for Bay Shore Dynasty against the HBC Hybrids and Mike Bernardo added two more early in the second half. The Hybrids got themselves back into the game with goals by Mitchell Rudish then Cameron Samuel to make it 4-2. Victor Romero’s long range shot for the Dynasty made it 5-2 but Justin Fuentes replied quickly for the Hybrids to make it 5-3. There was plenty of action but no more goals as the Dynasty took the two points.  Sam Umana scored an excellent hat trick for the HBC 95’s in their game against the Hybrids, Jerry Tobar added another to make the final score 4-0.
