Week 2 Review

WEEK 2 REVIEW

U6

The U6 division got underway on Friday with the HBC Hurricanes and the Cougars meeting in the first game. Jake Hatton scored two of the three goals that gave the Hurricanes the lead but goals by Jordy Castillo, Riley LaRegina and Henry Gibbons meant the game ended 3-3.

The Red Lions then played the Cougars and came out on top 2-0. Lennon Harrington scored the opening goal of the season for the Lions when his shot found the corner of the net in the first half. Aidan McGowan added a second late in the game.

The Hurricanes then played the Kings Park Xtreme with Jake Hatton again on the score sheet. Alex Squillacioti tied the game up for the Xtreme and it ended all square at 1-1.

The Red Lions made it two wins out of two by beating Dix Hills 6-1. Luca Mazzilli and Lennon Harrington each scored twice with Aidan Lima and Brendan Varlack adding one each. Skyler Ellis was on target for Dix Hills in the first half.

HBC Holland got their season started against Kings Park with Delilah Sember scoring the only goal of a close first half. Deleliah added to her total in the second half and Austin Scherner then Spencer Menkes put the game out of reach. Alex Squillacioti pulled one back for the Xtreme, 4-1 the final score.

Syosset Madrid scored three times in each half against Dix Hills to record a 6-0 victory. Mason Laliotis opened the scoring before Nikko Tenedero found the net four times. Jack Penderick added a sixth late on. Madrid followed that with a confident first half display against HBC Holland, Nikko Tenedero and Mason Laliotis with early goals. Holland got back into the game in the second half but couldn’t penetrate the Madrid defense, 2-0 the final score.

Boys U7

South Huntington Thunder had a good week with two wins that moved them up to second place. Their first game saw them beat HBC Milan 3-2 thanks to two goals by Vicent Grassi and one from Dillon Hartman. They then came out on top 1-0 over the Red Eagles with Dillon Hartman getting the all important winner in the first half.

HBC Milan recovered and beat the Huntington Y Cavaliers by a score of 5-1. Justin Gennat and Liam Harrington each scored twice with Luke Copland adding a fifth.

The Red Eagles lost their second game to an in-form Blue Thunder team. Jordon Garbut was on target twice in the 6-0 victory. Jordan repeated the feat in the Dragons next game with two in the 4-0 win over SFA Lightning. SFA won for the first time in their game against HY Cavaliers, Jerrfey Vasquez did the damage with a hat trick in the 4-0 triumph.

The Blue Dragons top the division with maximum points from their four games.

Boys U8

Arsenal and HBC City opened the BU8 division with a close game, both teams had chances but failed to score in the 0-0 draw. Arsenal did manage to score in their second game against the Annoying Oranges when Nick Induisi fired in from distance to give them a 1-0 half time lead. The Oranges responded in the second half and an Enzo Pupillo equalizer was followed by an unfortunate own goal to give the Oranges the points in the 2-1 victory.

Farmingdale Madrid hit top form in their game against HBC City. Tyler Solis hit a hat trick with Anthony Laughlin adding two and Colin Cody one in the 6-0 win. They followed that with a 3-0 win over the NY Strikers to go top of the league with six points.

The Annoying Oranges also went two for two on the day with a convincing victory over the NY Strikers. Enzo Pupillo was amongst the goals again scoring twice in the 6-0 victory.

Boys U10/11

The Rowdy Wasabis took maxi mum points on the day keeping clean sheets in both of their wins. Owen Husselbeck scored a late winner in the 1-0 triumph over the SH Sharpshooter and was again on target in the 4-0 win over the CSH Rapids.

A Luke Cunsolo hat trick gave the Sharpshooters a 3-2 win over FC Favoritos. Favoritos had looked favorites when Adrian Ramonetti and Ryan Wagner had given them a lead but the Sharpshooters fought back in the second half to take the points. The Favoritos then played a close first half with the Raiders, Adrian Ramonetti equalizing Foster Abreu’s opener. The Raiders took over in the second half and goals by Brian Contreras, Emmy Forbes and Charlie O’Rourke gave them a 4-1 victory.

Kings Park Explosion stayed top with another two victories to make it eight points out of eight for them. Matthew Palladino hit the net in the 1-0 win over the CSH Rapids and Matthew Cotoir had a hat trick in the 4-2 win over the Raiders.

Girls U12

The Girls U12 division provided some exciting and close games in week 2. Northport Surf ended week one with four points out of four and remain unbeaten after a win and a draw this week. Hope Staib and Gabby Gregor scored in the 2-1 win over FC Favoritas, Isabella Hubbard with the goal for Favoritas. CSH Storm couldn’t manage a goal but did take the first point of the Surf in the 0-0 tie. The Storm then beat the South Huntington Stars 3-1 thanks to an Emily Berlinghof hat trick, the win means they are in second place in the league table.

Syosset Jazz ended up with a win and a loss for the second week running. Sydney Settzer and Skylar Keating were on target in the 2-0 win over the Favoritas but they were unable to score in their next game going down 2-0 to the South Huntington Unicorns, Jessica Boyle and Bianca Skelton with the goals.

The Stars then beat the Unicorns in an end to end game, Sydney Taylor scored twice in the 4-2 victory.

The Surf stay top with seven points.

Boys U14

Jericho Revolution made it four wins in a row after another two victories in week two. Justin Snyder hit a hat trick in the 4-2 win over South Huntington Barca then it was Ben Alons turn to claim a hat trick in the 6-0 victory over the North Babylon Stallions.

Barca shrugged off the earlier loss to beat South Huntington PSG 4-3 in a thrilling game. Two Jayvin Coto goals and one from Brian Perez wasn’t enough for PSG as Ray Domjan, David Alfaro, David Cartagena and Stephen Ciravolo all fount the net for Barca.

CSH Comets also went two for two but had to work hard for both victories. Brendan Wirth in the first half then Andrew Amaruso in the second were the scorers in the 2-0 win over N. Babylon Stallions. Chris Amaruso was then the hero with two first half goals in the 2-1 triumph over the Vortex, Aidan Forbes pulled one back for the Vortex but they couldn’t find an equalizer.

The Vortex were also on the wrong end of a 4-0 score line in their game against SH PSG. JT Castro, Jamie Bonilla, Brian Perez and Jayvin Coto all finding the net.

Boys U17

The BU17 division gives us competitive and entertaining games every time, the Bay Shore Falcons have an early edge with four wins out of four so far. Brendan Quirk was the two goal hero in their opening game against the CSH Renegades. Wilson Martinez hit back for CSH but it wasn’t enough, 2-1 the final score.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Alejandro Juarez and Doug Castro each scored twice in the Falcons 5-3 triumph over their rivals, the Bay Shore Dynasty.

Nick Tonks hit two goals and Raul four as the Renegades went on a scoring spree against HBC 95’s. Sam Umana replied with two for HBC and Chris Fuschetto had one but CSH were worthy 6-3 victors.

HBC Hybrids came out on top in their game with HBC 95’s. Jason Catarino, Evert Coto and Hugo Davila all on target in the 3-1 win. Bay Shore Dynasty brought them back down to earth in the final game of the day with Mike Bernardo and Doug Castro on target in the 2-0 victory.

With all the teams having at least one win in the first two weeks it looks like being an exciting season.
