COINDRE HALL INDOOR LEAGUE 2011/12

Week One Review……

BOYS U7

The U7 Boys kicked off the 15th season at Coindre Hall with South Huntington Thunder beating Chelsea 4-0 in the opening game. Luca Crimi scored twice, Blake Scimone and Jack Fallon adding the others in a convincing win.

Chelsea hit back with a 2-1 victory over Dix Hills with Liam Harrington and Jason Kaiser on target in an evenly matched contest. Dix Hills also improved in their second fixture and had a comfortable 6-0 win over South Hunt. Lightning. Tyler Varlack, who also scored in their first game, got the season’s first hat- trick. South Hunt. Thunder made it a perfect start with a 1-0 win over the Great White Sharks, Jack Fallon with the all important goal. The Sharks suffered another close loss in their second game. Hunter Droskoski netted their first goal of the season but goals from Shay Daley and Hayley McGowan gave the Rockets a victory in their opening match. The Rockets were also on target twice against the South Hunt. Lightning but a hat trick from Luka Crimi and a fourth from Dominick Repetti made sure that the Lightning got the points in a 4-2 triumph.

So after the first round of games the early leaders are the South Huntington Thunder, the only team to take maximum points on the day.

GU11/12

South Huntington France and CSH Storm kicked off the GU11/12 division and it was the girls from France who got the first points of the season with a 2-0 shut-out, Danielle Kleet twice hitting the net. The Storm made a quick recovery and recorded a shut out of their own beating the Northport Surf 1-0 in a very close game, Kelly Hooks scoring the winning goal. An even closer game saw the HBC Force share the points with South Hunt. France. Olivia McGuinness gave the Force the lead but Danielle Kleet leveled for France in a 1-1 tie.

Northport Surf went down 1-0 for the second time, this time to South Hunt. USA. Joielyn Tortoice scored the only goal.

New Hyde Park Firecats made a perfect start with two victories and two shut outs to take them to the top of the league. HBC Force kept it tight in their game eventually going down 2-0. South Hunt. USA found it harder going as the Firecats found their scoring touch and ran out 6-0 winners, Irene Tsahas top scored for them with two on the day.

BOYS U13

South Huntington Barca got off to a flying start with a 3-0 victory over the CSH Comets, Brian Valencia scoring twice and Jamie Bonilla once. They were soon brought back down to earth though as the Z20 Jackals beat them 4-2. Gabe Quesquen got on the score sheet twice for Barca but goals two goals from Kevin Gulizio and one each from JD Patti and Luke Karen proved decisive. The Jackals made it two out of two with a dominant performance against the HBC Diablos. Matt Tomlinson and Luke Karen scored two apiece in the 6-0 win.

The CSH Comets and South Hunt. Real Madrid played an exciting game, Matt Shooshtary and Vincenzo Iannucci scored the Comets first goals of the season but Jayvin Coto, Jose Veliz and Matt Lindner were on target to secure a 3-2 win for Real Madrid. The Vortex then played Real Madrid and another close encounter saw Madrid on the wrong end of a 3-2 score line. Matt Lindner and Jayvin Coto were again amongst the goals but two from Thomas Witthuhn and one from Keegan Cassidy saw the Vortex claim the points. The Vortex finished the day with a commanding 5-0 win over the HBC Diablos, Thomas Witthuhn adding three more goals to his total. With maximum points from their two games the Vortex share an early lead at the top with the Z20 Jackals.

Boys U15/16

The BU15/16 division saw some of the more action packed games of the day with none of the teams able to claim two victories. The Bayshore Dynasty got off to a great start with a 2-1 victory over the CSH Renegades, two Mike Bernardo strikes cancelled out an Anfernee Lopez goal for the Renegades. Mike Bernardo was again on target in their second game against Juventus with two first half goals. Juventus were also in the mood for goals, two from Ever Manzanares and one each from Chris Fuschetto and Jerry Tobar looked to have given Juventus the points but Alajandro Juarez and a third from Mike Bernardo completed the Dynasty comeback . 4-4 the final score.

The CSH Renegades and the Warriors split the points in a game of two halves. The first half belonged to the Warriors who stormed into a three goal lead, Nick Tonks, Alexis Higuera and Max Karen with the goals. Chase Brown finished off a flowing move to pull one back just before half time for the Renegades and further goals late in the game from Nick Sherman then Anfernee Lopez saw another comeback complete.

Juventus and the Warriors obviously learned something from their first games as both teams held on for victories in their second matches. Juventus scored four again, this time against Bayshore Falcons. Two from man of the match Jerry Tobar and one each from Ever Manzanares and Chris Fuschetto put Juventus in a strong position. Douglas Castro replied for the Falcons. The Warriors also recorded a 4-1 win over the Falcons, two clinical finishes from Jeff Sully in the first half setting them on their way.
