Tyler Varlock got the Dix Hills goal to take his tally to ten for the season.

After three weeks of play the Thunder are still top with their 100% record, Chelsea are now four points behind in second place.

Girls U11/12

New Hyde Park Firecats were looking to continue their fine start to the season and did so in their opening game against the CSH Storm. Logan Ward took the spotlight with her first hat trick of the season. Lauren Wasserman and Emily Rose added one goal apiece in the 5-0 win.

The Storm came out determined to make amends in their next game against South Huntington France and took the lead with a Sam Reim goal. France rallied and goals from Mariah Boyle and Daniel Kleet gave them the lead before Claire Futter equalized for the Storm, 2-2 the final score.

The NHP Firecats were then pushed all the way by the HBC Force. An even first half produced some good soccer but no goals as the teams went in scoreless at the break. Both teams attacked in the second half looking for a winner and it was Logan Ward who continued her scoring streak by getting the all important goal for the Firecats. HBC pressed but couldn’t find the net as the Firecats collected another two points with a 1-0 victory, also maintaining their proud record of having conceded no goals so far this season.

Daniel Kleet scored her sixth goal of the season as South Huntington France beat the Northport Surf 2-0. Jesse Boyle was also on target to leave the Surf still in search of their first win.

HBC Force recovered from their earlier loss with a convincing 3-0 win over South Huntington USA. Kate Raptis scored the only goal of the first half with a left footed drive to the corner. She added two more in the second half to complete a fine hat trick as the Force finished the day on a high.

In a fast and physical opening game South Huntington Barca and Jericho Revolution went head to head. Clear chances were few and far between and it was no surprise that one goal decided the game, Jericho the victors 1-0 thanks to a Tyley Glovin strike.

Barca came out blazing in their next game eager to put the disappointment of the previous game behind them. Brian Valencia and Gabe Quesquen gave them a 2-0 half time lead over South Huntington Real Madrid in the ‘Coindre Hall El Classico’. As Barca tired the Real Madrid boys eased their way back into the game and the trusty left foot of Jayvin Coto hammered in a hat trick to give Madrid a 3-2 victory making it a miserable day for Barca who started the day in second place.

The league leading Z20 Jackals were hoping to maintain their 100% record but started slowly against Jericho Revolution. An early goal from Todd Pearlman then a direct free kick from Noah Greenbaum gave Jericho a 2-0 lead at the break. Jericho grew in confidence and further goals from Matt Masheb, Peter Deplis and another from Todd Pearlman stunned the Jackals as Jericho cruised to a 5-0 victory. Their impressive form continued into their next game as they shut out South Huntington Real Madrid 4- 0. There was to be no comeback this time for Madrid as Zach Caspe, Todd Pearlman, Matt Masheb and Noah Greenbaum all found the net for the Revolution.

The Z20 Jackals got back on track with a 7-1 demolition of the Vortex. Luke Karen scored twice, the second a glancing header, and Kevin Gulizio twice. The Jackals and the Revolution are now level on ten points at the top of the table.

The HBC Angels and the HBC Diablos shared the points in the division’s final game of the day. An end to end game looked like ending scoreless until Luke McNamara’s shot found its way into the corner to give the Diablos the lead. With only a minute left on the clock Taylor Sachs’ powerful drive tied the score at 1-1 and gave the Angels a deserved point.

GU16/17

CSH Renegades took the lead against the Warriors when Alex Dagostino scored with an excellent volley. The lead was short lived and the Warriors raced into a 3-1 lead thanks to goals from Jeff Sully, Wilson Martinez and Alexis Higuera. Derek Nugent’s goal brought the Renegades to within one of the Warriors but another from Jeff Sully wrapped up the points, 4-2 the final score.

The Warriors then played Bayshore Falcons who took the lead when Douglas Castro reacted quickly in the box. It was pretty much one way traffic after that as the Warriors fired in seven goals. Jeff Sully scored a hat trick and Nick Tonks chipped in with two, 7-2 the end result.

Bayshore Dynasty and the CSH Renegades played a fast and furious game, Douglas Castro giving the Dynasty the lead just before half time. It stayed that way until late in the game when two individual goals by Josh Canales gave the Renegades the advantage. The Dynasty had the last word though as Alejandro Juarez fired in the equalizer to make it 2-2 .

Juventus made it a bad day for the Bayshore Falcons as Jerry Tobar and Chris Fuschetto both scored hat tricks in the 7-2 victory. Juventus then came up against the Bayshore Dynasty, this proved to be a much closer game with both teams finding goals hard to come by. A Matt Vandenberg goal for the Dynasty was all that separated the teams at half time. A scramble in the box allowed Chris Fuschetto an easy tap in to tie it up for Juventus but the Dynasty were not to be denied as Matt Vandenberg played a quick free kick into the path of Alejandro Juarez who fired home the winner, 2-1 the final score.

After 6 games it’s tight at the top. The Warriors lead the table with nine points, the Dynasty are second on eight with Juventus third on seven.

HBC Angels, who were unable to make week one, got their season rolling against South Huntington Real Madrid. Unfortunately for them they were unable to break down the Madrid defense and eventually went down 1-0, Jayvin Coto hammering in the winning goal for Madrid. Madrid followed that with a fast

GU16/17

With a couple of teams dropping out at the last minute, the GU16/17 division was left with only three teams. Hopefully they will be joined by another team after the holidays. The three remaining teams have been competitive so far and this week saw Oyster Bay play their opening games. BU15/16

The BU15/16 division provided us with some of the most exciting and fast paced games of the season. Goals flowed as all five teams won one and lost one of their two games.

Juventus and the CSH Renegades started the ball rolling with a high energy action packed contest. With all the attempts on goal it was surprising there was only one that went in during the first half, Jerry Tobar scoring for Juventus. The Renegades battled back and with less than two minutes remaining drew level thanks to a Nick Tonks strike. Within seconds Juventus took advantage of some hesitation in the Renegades defense and Jerry Tobar lifted the ball over the keeper for a fine individual goal that proved to be the winner.

The Renegades then came out on top in a nine goal thriller against the Bayshore Falcons. Mike Bernardo gave the Falcons an early lead before Wilson Martinez tied it up for the Renegades. A Matt Vandenburg goal and a second from Mike Bernardo put the Falcons in control at 3-1 but three straight from the Renegades turned it around again, David Alvarado was on target and Wilson Martinez claimed two to complete his hat trick making it 4-3 to the Renegades. A Matt Vandenburg cross was then turned in by a Renegades defender evening it up at 4-4 but Nick Tonks scored the final goal of the game to give the Renegades a 5-4 victory.

Max Karen was the hero for the Warriors as his hat trick downed Juventus 3-2. Jerry Tobar was on target again to give Juventus the lead but the Warriors replied to lead 2-1 at the half. Ever Manzanares equalized for Juventus but it wasn’t enough as Karen’s third made sure the points went to the Warriors.

The Bayshore Falcons defeated the Bayshore Dynasty 5-2 in another open and attacking game. Matt Vandenburg and Andrew Keach netted twice for the Falcons, Mark Vandenburg with the other. Justin Vid and Alejandro Juarez got the goals for the Dynasty.

The final game of the day was the Bayshore Dynasty versus the Warriors. The Warriors started slowly and were 3-0 down thanks to a hat trick inside three minutes from Mike Bernardo. The Dynasty continued to dominate and were 6-2 up half way through the second half. Victor Romero scored twice and Mike Bernardo added one more. The Warriors came to life at the end and made it interesting with Jeff Sully scoring twice to make it 6-4 but it was too little too late as Bayshore held on for a deserved win.

With each team taking two points the table stayed the same. The Dynasty, Warriors and Juventus all sharing first place on five points.
