Week 5 Review

WEEKLY REVIEW …………..week 5

BU8

Elwood Stars got off to a good start in their BU8 game against HBC Milan. Matt Greer hammered home the opening goal and Anthony Bell made it 2-0 shortly after. Luke Copland pulled one back for Milan but Edda Beliz restored the two goal advantage as the Stars went into half time with a 3-1 lead. Milan fought back in the second half and scored twice in quick succession, Gavin Wisotsky and Justin Gennat with the goals. Liam Harrington completed the comeback for Milan to make it 4-3 meaning Milan play FC Sesa in next week’s play off final.

CJ Marino scored two early goals to give HBC Everton a 2-0 lead over FC Sesa. Sesa hit back before half time with two goals of their own, Junior and Joseh Mejias on target. Alen Redzematovic looked like he had won it for Sesa when he blasted in a penalty kick but CJ Marino completed his hat trick in the dying moments to make the final score 3-3.

Zach Finkelstein scored four times for Syosset Red as they claimed their first victory of the season against CSH Warriors. Jacob Beekman and Andrew Brotman also found the net in the 6-1 win, Danny Higgins replied for the Warriors.

BU12

Kings Park Dynamite and Stonybrook Bayern played an entertaining game in the BU12 division. It was all square until Bayern’s top scorer Brennan Foster broke the deadlock in the second half. James Dicanio added a second with an excellent dipping strike from distance but the Dynamite pulled a goal back through Jamie Sicardi to set up a tense ending to the game. The Dynamite has a late chance but Bayern held on for the 2-1 win.

GU9

Sam Goldberg was the hero for Life Elite scoring both goals in the 2-0 victory over Northport Royals to keep Elite top of the table with a maximum of nine points from their three games so far.

Chastain Cassidy went one better with a hat trick for Dix Hills Gummy Bears who recorded their first win of the season over Massapequa Attitudes. Julia Gagliano gave the Attitudes a 1-0 half time lead but two goals by Chastain, one a well taken header at the near post, turned it around for the Bears. The Attitudes fought back and Nikki Buffolino placed the ball in the corner of the Dix Hills net to make it 2-2. It was the Bears day though and Chastain completed her hat trick with a clinical finish to give them a 3-2 victory.

BU13/14

South Huntington Sledgehammers and Hempstead EOC Leopards shared the points in their BU13/14 game. The Leopards took an early two goal lead, Amara ‘Balotelli’ Corona with a neat finish after a good run followed by David Albarca’s strike. Chris Guevera pulled one back for the ‘Hammers then Colin Bernard’s cross found its way into the Leopards goal to make the final score 2-2.

David Calix scored a hat trick for Uniondale Leones in their game with the Vortex. Tajhee Blair, Elver Fuentes and Andy Blanco were also on target for the Leones in their 6-1 win. Alexi Morel scored for the Vortex.

The Vortex and Hempstead played their make up game on Thursday and a close game was decided in the second half by Oscar Uribe, his goal giving the Leopards a 2-1 victory. The Leopards had taken the lead in the first half through Edwin Castillo but Nick Mazza tied it up early in the second half for the Vortex. The two teams meet again on Tuesday.

GU10

CSH Crushers lost their unbeaten record as they went down 3-1 to Life Elite 03. Gabby Modica scored the only goal of a close first half for the Elite. Gabby Martinez scored twice for Elite in the second half with Kailey Rappel replying for the Crushers, who despite losing, remain top of the table on eight points.

Uniondale Leones recorded their first win of the season. Zasil Mendoza scored both goals for the Leones in their 2-0 victory over South Huntington Stars.

BU11

Kings Park Explosion won for the second time this season beating the Dirty Dozen by a score of 8-3. The first half was pretty even with the Explosion taking a 3-2 lead into the break. The Dozen did score one more goal in the second half but five from Kings Park gave them a comfortable win. Mark Tolkin and Jordan Sahpiro were both on target twice for the Explosion. Matthew Nieto, Matt Catoir, Dominick Cardamone and Ethan Zdrojeski also scored for Kings Pk. Michael Kleinman, Aaron Einnegar and Nico Rezhek replying for the Dozen.

Hempstead EOC Wolves maintained their 100% record with a comfortable win over the HBC Kings. Colin Sim top scored for them with two goals in the 5-0 victory. Nilton Gonzalez, Branden Figueroa and Kes  also on target.

Brentwood had two victories this week. They were 5-0 winners in both games against CSH on Tuesday and the Dirty Dozen on Thursday. Those results confirm that the BU11 final will be between Brentwood and Hempstead EOC Wolves.

BU7

HBC Madrid and HBC Crew met for the first time on Wednesday with Madrid needing to win to have a chance of making it to the final. They went 3-0 up through goals by Lennon Harrington, Chris Walker and Brandon Varlack but Jagger Lucas pulled one back for the Crew before half time. The second half saw Chris Walker complete his hat trick and Jack Meyer added one to make the final score 6-1.

Plainedge Bulldogs stormed into a 4-1 half time lead against Kings Pk Xtreme with AJ Gulino scoring all four goals for the Bulldogs. Christian Hall was on target for the Xtreme but further goals by Matt Chadwick and AJ Spector made the final score 6-1. It also means AJ Gulino is top of the Golden Boot table by two goals with one week to play,

Syosset Madrid were 5-0 winners over HBC Napoli. Kent Malaby played an excellent first half in goal for Napoli but goals by Jack Pendrick, Miles Nevins and Nikko Tenedero gave them a 3-0 lead. Madrid added to their score in the second half through Cameron Chan and a second goal for Jack Pendrick. That result left the two Madrids, HBC and Syosset, level on points in second place with HBC advancing to the final with a slightly better head to head record against the other teams.

BU9

Kings Park Arsenal took the lead in the first ten seconds of their game with HBC Arsenal and never looked back. Kevin Webb was on target twice in the 4-0 victory which puts them in next week’s play off final against Dix Hills Gunners. Mikey Stiskin and Rich Bender also found the net for Arsenal.

Commack Fury scored the first goal of the game against Dix Hills Gunners but the Gunners recovered and an ‘attack minded’ game saw them come out on top by a score of 8-4. Tyler Goldberg, Nick Oprea and Matt Chumski all scored twice for the Gunners with Ian Alper and Andrew Pinzone adding one each. Giancarlo Difava, Zach Fawaz, Mike Terry and Jack Newfield scored for the Fury. The Gunners move into next week’s final with their 100% record intact.

BU9/10

Ben Higgins scored twice for the CSH Vikings but Danny Higgins went one better with a hat trick in the Vikings 6-1 victory over the HBC Spurs. Stephen Duval also hit the net for CSH with Hunter Scimone scoring the only Spurs goal.

HBC Liverpool were also 6-1 winners in their game with the HBC Smash. CJ Marino scored two early goals for Liverpool before Sean Phillips pulled one back for the Smash. The rest of the game belonged to Liverpool who scored four more goals, Gavin Wisotsky added two to his total to remain top of the Golden Boot table and Owen Reyes and Dean Muratore scored one each.

The Annoying Oranges and HBC City played an exciting game and it was City who took the lead through top scorer Nico Corea. The Oranges replied with two goals, Ian Huselbeck and Enzo Pupillo finding the net to make it 2-1 in their favor. Geral Cortez tied it up for City but Wilmer Flores scored the winner for the Oranges to make the final score 3-2. Next week’s final between the Oranges and Liverpool should be a great game!
