Week 1 Review

WEEKLY REVIEW week 1

BU7/8

The 19th season at Coindre Hall kicked off with the Bu7/8 division.
The first goals, and win of the day, going to the Crushers who beat Roma 4-0. Chris Prainito scored twice against Roma then added another two to his tally in a 2-2 draw with Rangers, Grant Kurland was also on target twice for Rangers in a tight game. Rangers followed up with a 3-0 victory over the Destroyers while Ajax got off to a good start with two convincing wins over Roma and the Southdown Flyers. Carter Veitch and James Vohs both scored four goals on the day for Ajax in their 6-0 and 6-1 wins. Germany also got maximum points with victories over the Destroyers and Lazio. Austin Krywack scored the winner in the dying seconds to give Germany a 3-2 win over the Destroyers which was followed by the 3-0 win over Lazio.
The other game was an exciting 0-0 tie between Lazio and the Southdown Flyers, both teams played well but couldn’t break the deadlock.

BU9/10

Valencia started the season with a pair of 6-0 victories over Poland and Wolves. Dylan Gugin scored two early goals against Poland and Lennon Harrington added three more before Rajveer Gujral completed the scoring. Lennon Harrington also found the net four times against Wolves. Poland bounced back and beat Atletico 2-1. It looked like it was heading for a tie with Brian Lynch’s goal for Poland canceling out Nick Kump’s opener but an unfortunate own goal in the last five seconds gave Poland the points. Nick Kump was on target again scoring twice against Hbc Wolves but a hat trick by Chris Walker saw Wolves finish on top in an entertaining 4-3 victory.

BU11/12

Chelsea started their season well with a 6-0 win over Spurs, Dylan Gugin scored a hat trick and Bryan Lizama twice. A competitive game against Arsenal followed with Chelsea eventually running out 4-1 winners, Lennon Harrington scoring a hat trick in this one. Hbc Ambush also got off to a flying start with a 6-0 victory over Spurs then a 5-1 win over Benfica. Charlie Grimonti and Dylan Schnitzer both scored three times on the day for the impressive Ambush. Arsenal recovered and took the points beating Benfica 4-2 in and end to end game to get their first points of the season, Nick Induisi, Nick Campanelli, Patrick Soulias and Jonathan Shank all finding the net.

BU13/14

The BU13/14 division looks like being a very competitive group and all seven games during week one proved to be close and exciting encounters.
The Outlaws Green started with a 2-0 victory over South Huntington Sharpshooters thanks to goals by Anthony Restivo and Michael Turner but their next game ended in a 2-1 defeat to the Green Machine. Chris Roberts scored both goals to secure the points for the Green Machine who then tied the Uniondale Vikingos 1-1. Thomas Mallady was on target for the Green Machine but an own goal saw the Vikingos get a share of the points. The Sharpshooters returned with a 2-0 victory over the Outlaws White with goals by Jeffrey Sorto and Chris O’Connor. The Outlaws White also lost in their next game going down 3-0 to Chaos, the goals scored by Danya Danziger, Carmine De’Ieso and Emmy Forbes. The Vikingos got their first win of the season with a 3-1 triumph over Finley, their goals scored by Allan Calderon, Kazuki Yoshihashi and Adrian Astudillo. Finley then lost another tight game as Chaos ran out 2-1 winners. Chaos, who had Jason Garay and Brian Contreras on the score sheet against Finley, were the only team to win both games on the day so sit at the top of table.

GU13/14

Last year’s Golden Boot winner Elizabeth Starin was on target again as she netted twice in the opening game in the girls U13/14 division. Her two goals helped Northport Spirit to a 3-1 victory over the Tiger Lily’s. Leela Desai also scored for Spirit while Grace Moyka replied for the Lily’s. The Hbc Blue Devils also beat the Tiger Lily’s, Deanna Cumella scored twice in the 4-1 victory. The Spirit and the Shooting Stars then played an entertaining game which could have gone either way but ended 0-0 before the Blue Devils beat the Shooting Stars 4-3. Abby Semelsberger scored twice and Emily Cheshire once for the Stars but a Deanna Cumella hat trick and a goal by Riva Bergman made sure the Blue Devils took the points.

BU16

The two Sting teams, White and Green, played each other to start the BU16 season. A Johnny Tucker hat trick wasn’t enough for Green as they went down 8-5 to the White team who saw Erin Ayden hit the net five times! The Sting White then went down 3-2 in a fast paced game with H Footy. Ronan Carroll scored twice and Jordan Robinson once as H Footy got their first points. The Sting Green got their first win with a 5-3 victory over CSH Falcons. Another end to end game saw John Baccardo score four time for the Sting. The United got their season underway with a 2-2 tie against H Footy. Goals by Alex Morino and Chris Shey gave them the lead but Carlos Godoy and Jordan Robinson replied for H Footy. United finished the day with a 4-0 win over the CSH Falcons, Alex and Chris were on target again as well as Gabe Quesquen and Will Friedman.
