Week 1 Review

SUMMER ’13  WEEKLY REVIEW……

Week 1

BU7

HBC Crew and Syosset Madrid got the BU7 season underway and it was the Crew who raced into an early two goal lead thanks to a Jake Hatton double. Syosset hit back to tie it up before half time as Jack Pendrick scored twice. Jack completed his hat trick in an entertaining second half with Madrid coming out on top 5-3. Mason Laliotis and Aidan McCarthy were also second half scorers for Madrid with Blake Donahue on target for the Crew.

HBC Madrid and Kings Park Xtreme continued the attacking theme in a game that produced twelve goals! Alex Sqillaciotti and Christian Hall each found the net twice for the Xtreme but a Dylan Gugin hat trick and two from Austin Scherner helped HBC to an 8-4 victory. Brandon Varlack, Lennon Harrington and Chris Walker completed the scoring for HBC.

AJ Gulino was another player to claim a hat trick as he scored three first half goals for the Plainedge Bulldogs against HBC Napoli. HBC improved after the break but the Bulldogs were comfortable winners, Alex Katsaounis and an own goal made the final score 5-0.

BU8

Elwood Stars and HBC Everton played an end to end game to open the BU8 division. Matthew Greer gave the Stars the lead in the first half but Sebastian Lippman’s free kick tied it up. Matthew gave the Stars the lead for a second time only for Sebastian to bring Everton level again, this time with a penalty kick. Sal Capace won it for the Stars with a late goal to make it 3-2.

FC Sesa started their season with a 5-0 win over the CSH Warriors, Jayden Mejas and Alen Redzematov each scored twice with Nick Maloney adding a fifth.

HBC Milan also recorded a victory in their opening game against Syosset Red. Liam Harrington, Ben Stummer and Shay Daly gave them a 3-0 lead at the half. Zach Finkelstein pulled one back for the Reds before Ben Stummer scored his second, and Milan’s fourth, to make the finals score 4-1.

GU9

The only GU9 game this week saw Massapequa Attitudes take a 2-0 lead in the first half against Northport Royals, Julia Gagliano and Mary Stork with the goals. The Royals hit back in the second half and strikes by Marynn Gruen and Abby Buonagurio made the final score 2-2. Life FC and the Dix Hills Gummy Bears get their season started next week.

GU10

South Huntington Stars and CSH Crushers got the GU10 season underway with 2 -2 tie. Ashley Kozlowski scored twice for the Stars and Emily Plachta twice for the Crushers in an evenly matched game. Life FC and Uniondale Panteras start their season next week.

BU9

HBC Arsenal and Commack Fury played an exciting game to open up the BU9 division. Mike Terry gave the Fury the lead before Luke Copland equalized for Arsenal to make it 1-1 at half time. Commack again took the lead with an Aaron Slobowdow shot before Liam Harrington’s deflected corned made it 2-2.  Liam Harrington’s free kick then gave Arsenal their first lead and they held on to win 3-2.

Kings Park Arsenal started their season with a victory over Syosset White. Ethan Hart found the net for Syosset but a Kevin Webb hat trick and goals by Mike Stiskin and Eric Clemente made it 5-1 in Arsenal’s favor.

Dix Hills Gunners also came out on top 5-1 over Syosset Red. Last season’s Golden Boot winner Tyler Glassberg and Jeffrey Wilson each scored twice with Matthew Chumsky also on target. Noah Gordon got the goal for the Reds.

BU9/10

HBC City and HBC Liverpool traded early goals in their game opening U9/10 game. Nico Corea was on target twice for City but five goals by Gavin Wisotsky and two from Dean Muratore gave Liverpool a 7-2 victory.

The Annoying Oranges also opened up with a win beating the CSH Vikings by a score of 5-0. Enzo Pupillo scored a hat trick with Nikolai Sefarian and Gavin Kata adding one goal each.

HBC Smash and HBC Spurs played an exciting game with neither side able to find the net in a tight first half. Nick Caviris eventually broke the deadlock then added a second, after his initial penalty kick was saved, to give the Smash a 2-0 victory.

BU11

The HBC Kings took a 1-0 lead into half time in their opening game against the Dirty Dozen thanks to a free kick by Logan Elmore. The Dozen stepped it up in the second half and took a 3-1 lead with two goals by Danny Costello and one by Connor Galleagher. James Phillipis pulled one back for the Kings but the Dozen held on for the 3-2 victory.

Tyler Pennetta was on target twice for the CSH Rapids but ended up on the losing team as the Kings Park Explosion came out on top 4-2. Matthew Palladino found the net twice for the Explosion with Connor McGovern and Michael Kloos scoring one each.

Hempstead EOC Wolves played a very competitive game against Brentwood. Nilton Gonzalez gave the Wolves the lead and Brandon Figueroa doubled it before half time. Brentwood fought back in the second half and Heris Robbels reduced the deficit with a well taken penalty kick. Despite some late pressure the Wolves held on for the 2-1 victory.

BU12

Kings Park Dynamite and The South Huntington Sharpshooters got the BU12 season going and it was the Dynamite who struck first with a goal by JD Anderson. That proved to be the only goal of a close first half. The second half produced more opportunities with JD completing his hat trick as the Dynamite edged out the Sharpshooters 3-2. Jonathan Solar and Matthew Calandra replying for South Huntington.

HBC Wolverines won their first game of the season over Stonybrook Bayern. Nikolas Dittner and Ryan Szabo scored two goals each and Nikolas Mazza added one in the 5-1 victory. Brennan Foster was on target for Bayern.

GU13/14

Hauppauge came out on top in a close game with the South Huntington Falcons as the GU13/14 division got underway. Jessica Boyle scored for the Falcons but goals by Lindsey Devine and Lauren Haggerty gave Hauppauge the 2-1 victory.

In the other game, Impact FC overcame Hempstead EOC Lady Panthers by a score of 3-0. Taylor Ragensberger scored twice and Brianna Vacca once to claim the points for Impact.

BU13/14

A Sean O’Donnell free kick gave the South Huntington Sledgehammers the lead in their game against the Vortex. Phillip Ferranola replied for the Vortex to make it 1-1 at half time. In the second half Odir Cortez latched onto a through ball and hammered a shot high into the net to give the Vortex the points in a 2-1 victory.

Another tight match up saw the Hempstead EOC Leopards play Uniondale Leones. It remained scoreless until the second half when David Abarca’s two goals gave the Leopards the advantage. The Leones came back and made it 2-1 with a goal by Andy Blanco but the Leopards held on to win it.
